TWAPS Orchard Farm Match – Match Results – 1st May 2022 – Points Match

Match No. 4 at Orchard Farm, Lake 6

On Sunday 1st May 18 anglers fished Orchard Fram, Lake 6, which is our biggest turnout of the season so far.

I would also like to welcome Richard Higgins who fished his first match with us today and hope to see him again with us.

The match was won by myself with 77lb 11oz of carp caught on method feeder tight to the gap in the rushes on the island. In second place was Paul James on his first match of the season caught 63lb 8oz of carp on the feeder to the the island. In third place was the busiest man in the world on the day, Dael Hall who caught 54lb 10oz of skimmers and a few carp shallow on the pole with maggots.

Also I would like to give a massive well done to Jim Beaconsfield (the “Happy Wanderer”) who worried the other anglers by staying in his peg all day and catching a good bag of carp.

And finally I’m sorry for the tightness of some pegs yesterday at Orchard Farm.

The Thameside Works Angling Preservation Society (TWAPS) is a fishing club situated in North West Kent. We manage several fishing lakes and a stretch of river in Kent on behalf of our Members. The Society has both day ticket and Members’ only waters.

Access to Cobham

Members!
When visiting the Cobham fishery please DO NOT use the short cut track between the gate cottage and the main track cattle grid if it’s taped off.

Also please keep to the main track and avoid driving on the grass.

Members seen using the short cut when it’s taped off, or driving on the grass will have their membership suspended pending a Committee enquiry.

Inn on the Lake – Temporary Closures

Members

At the hotel owner’s request, the fishery will be closed to all Members on Tuesday 21st May from 7pm, and will reopen at 7pm on Wednesday 22nd May.

Locks will be changed whilst closed.

Polite Reminder – Pike Fishing

Members

This is a polite reminder to inform you that fishing for pike is now banned on all TWAPS waters until 1st October 2024. Pike fishing is only permitted from 1st October until 31st March each year.

Inn on the Lake Fish Survey

In March 2024 a fish survey was carried out by AE Fisheries on the Main Lake at the Inn on the Lake. See the ‘Fish Survey’ section on the Inn on the Lake page.

Other surveys are to follow at Shorne Country Park, Cobham and the Middle Lake
at the Inn on the Lake. These are to be carried out during the winter of 2024-25.

Inn on the Lake – Main Lake Jetty

Members

The owners of the Inn on the Lake Hotel have complained that some TWAPS Members are feeding fish from the jetty.

The jetty and patio areas are STRICTLY OUT OF BOUNDS to all Members for feeding or fishing.

Any Member caught either feeding or fishing from the jetty or patio areas will receive an instant suspension pending a disciplinary hearing.

We are currently waiting for the CCTV footage to be looked at.

Pike and Predator Fishing Open Evening

A pike and preditor open evening for all TWAPS Members is being organised for Tuesday 16th April 2024 starting at 7:30pm, at the Inn on the Lake hotel.

There are two guest speakers, Mark Barnet and Gary Peet.

More information will follow in due course.

The evening is open to all current TWAPS Members.

If you are a TWAPS Member and would like to attend please contact Gary Bushell, Head Bailiff, by TEXT ONLY PLEASE (please do not phone), so we have an idea of how many are coming. Please include your full name and your TWAPS membership number. Gary’s number is on your TWAPS membership card.

There will be a raffle on the night, with several prizes on offer.
