TWAPS Chequertree Match – Match Results – 27th March 2022 – Points Match

Match No. 1 at Chequertree.

First of all I would like to wish a warm welcome to the three new members who fished with us today: Bob Dean, Broderick Bassett and Jack Lewing, who had a awesome start to his first match with us at the TWAPS Match Group and finished in 5th place.

17 anglers fished the first league match of the year at Chequertree Fishery Ashford.

The weather had broken from the past week or so‘s glorious weather and a cold wind was present on the lake today (as Rupert and Dave dell found out).

But the cold wind didn’t really upset the fishing too much as Matt Buxton caught 105lb of carp from peg 5 fishing long to the island beating his dad, Jeff, into second place with 67lb dead, caught on his usual tactics of leaving the majority of his pole in his holdall and fishing a top kit and one or two sections. Me in third, after contending with the wild foul on the lake for the second week running, caught a mixed bag of carp, gold fish, and a fair sized bag of skimmers totalling 44lb 6oz, caught on maggots, pinkies and worm over groundbait at 8 meters.

Some specimen fish were weighed in today to add to the specimen cup competition. So if you catch a bream, roach, tench or perch of a good weight please weigh the fish separately. It could be worth a trophy at the end of the season.
