Match Report...

Today’s match results for the memorial trophy and points match. There was 10 anglers for the first match of the season at Monk Lakes number 4.

It was a difficult match for most anglers today with weights much lower than expected, this wasn’t helped by us being allocated the back bowl of the lake which generally isn’t as productive as the road side pegs.

In a close contest for the top 3 and the bonus points there was only half a pound separating the top 3 anglers.

In 3rd place with 35lb 11oz was Charlie Rayner who’s golden drawing arm for once let him down as there was 2 pegs left in the bag, peg 7, and probably the best peg on the day peg 1. Charlie drew peg 7 leaving end peg 1 to me, thanks Charlie.

In second place was Rupert Garrett with 35lb 14oz. Rupert always seems to frame on lake 4.

In first place was me with 36lb 3oz. Almost all small carp caught in the last 90 minutes on dead maggots over groundbait in the margins.

New member MIck Smith came 4 th on his first outing with us. I shall have to keep an eye on him.

The next Match is at Claygate lakes lake Eva on May 14th, usual draw time of 8am fish 9am to 3pm. £10 all in. All members welcome you don’t need to be a dedicated match angler to come along and fish although if your unfortunate enough to draw a peg between Billy Hargreaves and Andy Stuart you might want to bring some ear plugs!
