Ten anglers took part in today’s match at Lucks Lane fishery, near Paddock Wood. Vicky, the fishery owner reserved half the Main Lake for us and supplied a lovely egg and bacon breakfast sandwich for those who wanted it.
It was a warm, and sometimes, cloudy day, and despite the lake being well stocked with a number of species, it proved a fairly difficult day for most anglers. Frustratingly there were several large carp basking on the surface and not really feeding, and, as the match rules do not allow for floating baits, we were prevented from trying to catch them “off the top”, if, indeed the carp moved within pole range.
Small silverfish we caught by most anglers, but even these proved fiddly to catch, even on maggot.
Despite this, some anglers were able to catch bigger fish, mainly common and mirror carp, and both Ian and Jeff managed to catch a catfish each.
Congratulations to Phil for his performance today, a deserved winner.
Thanks to everyone who took part.
